PureAire Methyl Bromide Monitor is approved for fumigation monitoring by California EPA

STX-PA Gas MonitorEffective June 25, 2008, the Department of Pesticide Regulation of the California EPA has added a real time remote sensor monitor for the detection of methyl bromide by PureAire Monitoring Systems, in addition to colorimetric detector tubes. The PureAire Air Check Advantage Continuous Methyl Bromide Monitor can now be used to monitor enclosed areas, including greenhouse soil fumigation and commodity fumigation.

The PureAire Air Check Advantage Methyl Bromide Monitor is capable of low 0.3 parts-per-million (PPM) detection and includes a local digital display, 4-20 mA analog output, user-settable high and low concentration alarm relays, and a failsafe system fault relay. Designed for monitoring fumigation chamber clearing and storage areas, it’s ideal for providing worker protection at orchards, growers, international airports, and seaports where commodities are fumigated before shipping.

The heart of the Air check Advantage is a highly reliable and substance-specific detection system, which converts methyl bromide into a gas more easily and selectively detected by a renewable electrochemical sensor. Annual maintenance costs are estimated at approximately $75/year and can save an average orchard up to $16,000 per year in colorimetric tubes.

System Helps Control Odors from Municipal Waste Treatment Facilities

Wet ScrubberA highly effective, field-proven system for helping control hydrogen sulfide (H2S) emissions from municipal waster water treatment plants is now available from PureAire Monitoring Systems. Designed for use in 100% condensing RH environments, the PureAire Chlorine Monitor responds almost instantaneously to changes in chlorine concentration, making it ideal for controlling the addition of H2S oxidizers such as sodium hypo chloride in both mist-type and packed-bed scrubber systems. It is available in four different measurement ranges: 0 to 1 ppm, 0 to 3 ppm, and 0 to 10 ppm.

The system operates on the principle that as long as Cl2 is present in the scrubber, any H2S entering the system will be oxidized. As the H2S load increases, the resulting decrease in residual chlorine levels is detected and a signal sent to a companion controller to increase the rate of chemical injection/addition. Conversely, when the H2S load subsides and the measured chlorine level increases, the controller decreases chemical injection/addition.

The PureAire Chlorine Monitor consists of a renewable, electrochemical sensor and companion transmitter, which may be linked to user-supplied programmable logic controller. The system has proven effective in helping eliminate H2S emissions and reduce chemical consumption in municipal waster treatment plants in Virginia, Florida, Arizona, and other states.

Gas Monitoring System Detects PPM Levels of Methyl Bromide and Methyl Iodide

Methyl Bromide and Iodide Gas MonitorA new gas monitoring system designed to detect and measure low levels of methyl bromide and methyl iodide is available from PureAire Monitoring Systems. Extremely sensitive and high specific, the PureAire Air Check Advantage is capable of detecting parts-per-million concentrations of gases traditionally monitored at LEL levels, such as methyl bromide and methyl iodide. Moreover, its unique detection technique eliminates interferences from other hydrocarbons, which may be present.

The PureAire Air Check Advantage Monitoring System detects and measures methyl bromide and methyl iodide in a range of 0 to 50 ppm. This low level, substance specific response is made possible through the use of a combined electrochemical detection technique which utilizes a long life pyrolyzer to decompose the target gas into one more easily and selectively detected by an electrochemical sensor. Measurement information is displayed on a local readout and output as a 4-20 mA analog signal. Also available are built-in user selectable dual alarm relays and local alarm indicators.

It operates on 24 VDC power and may be located up to 3200 feet from a centralized controller or PLC.
