The PureAire Nitric Acid Fixed Gas Detector is designed for continuous monitoring of nitric acid (HNO₃) vapors, delivering accurate, real-time detection to help maintain safe and compliant working conditions. Using a dedicated electrochemical sensor calibrated in parts-per-million (ppm), the detector provides fast alerts when nitric acid vapor concentrations reach unsafe levels.

Nitric acid is commonly used in semiconductor manufacturing, metal etching, explosives production, chemical synthesis, and aerospace applications. It’s highly corrosive and produces toxic vapors that can damage respiratory tissue and corrode equipment. Continuous monitoring is essential in cleanrooms, chemical storage areas, and industrial labs where HNO₃ is handled or stored.

PureAire’s nitric acid sensors are built for long-term reliability—up to 8 years—in standard operating environments. They are also rechargeable on-site with electrolyte, reducing replacement costs and minimizing system downtime.

The PureAire Nitric Acid Gas Detector is a compact gas monitor that’s ideal for protecting workers from nitric acid gas exposure in the workplace. It consists of a transmitter/controller connected to a dedicated, renewable nitric acid gas sensor that automatically inputs the gas and measurement range. Designed as a stand-alone monitor, the Nitric Acid Gas Detector can also be connected to any programmable logic controller or SCADA system. PureAire also manufactures toxic gas detectors with a remote sensor.

The heart of the Nitric Acid Gas Detector is the smart, renewable sensor cell programmed with nitric acid gas and measurement range information. When servicing the sensors, they can be recharged with fresh electrolyte and dynamically gas-calibrated in the maintenance shop away from the transmitter.
