The PureAire Sulfur Dioxide Fixed Gas Detector is designed for continuous, real-time monitoring of sulfur dioxide (SO₂) gas. Featuring a dedicated electrochemical sensor calibrated in parts-per-million (ppm), the detector delivers accurate, immediate detection of SO₂ leaks to help maintain safe working conditions and prevent environmental hazards.

Sulfur dioxide is commonly used in water treatment, pulp and paper processing, food preservation, and chemical manufacturing. It is also a byproduct in fossil fuel combustion and metal smelting. Because SO₂ is a toxic, irritating gas that affects the respiratory system and can corrode equipment, continuous monitoring is critical in areas where it’s used or generated.

PureAire’s SO₂ sensors are engineered for long-lasting use—up to 8 years under typical industrial conditions. They are also easily rechargeable on-site with electrolyte, minimizing both downtime and maintenance costs.

The PureAire Sulfer Dioxide Gas Detector is a compact fixed gas monitor that’s ideal for protecting workers from toxic and corrosive gas exposure in the workplace. It consists of a transmitter/controller connected to a dedicated, renewable sulfur dioxide gas sensor that automatically inputs the gas and measurement range. Designed as a stand-alone monitor, the Sulfur Dioxide Gas Detector can also be connected to any programmable logic controller or SCADA system. PureAire also manufactures toxic gas detectors with a remote sensor.

The heart of the Sulfur Dioxide Gas Detector is a smart, renewable sulfur dioxide sensor cell programmed with specific gas and measurement range information. When servicing the sensors, they can be recharged with fresh electrolyte and dynamically gas-calibrated in the maintenance shop away from the transmitter.

This stand-alone SO₂ gas detector is engineered for simple installation and immediate operation. Mount the unit near your sulfur dioxide risk area, plug the regulated power supply into any standard 115VAC 60Hz or 220VAC 50Hz outlet, and start monitoring instantly. The system features a built-in horn and LED alarm indicators for instant alerts in case of elevated gas levels. Additional features include dedicated alarm and fault relays for external device integration and a 4–20mA analog output to provide continuous real-time data to PLC and SCADA systems.

Smart Sensor Electronics with 24/7 Supervision
